Meeting Minutes

8/9/2022


Announcements: 

We are still looking for a location for our September 6th In-Person meeting. We will send that information out once we have a location locked down.


Our Sergent at Arms and zoom host Barb, promptly opened the meeting on time with our mission statement, flag salute, and reminded members and guests that the speech and evaluation part of our meeting are recorded. 

 

Our President Mara opened the meeting. Our VPE Nancy reviewed roles for the next meeting, provide us with the Learning Minute, and introduced the Toastmaster.

 

Our Learning Minute from Nancy

Pause:

  1. Pause before speaking. This allows you to refresh your thoughts and allow the audience to focus on you.

Pause can:

  1. Add drama

  2. Allow the audience to absorb your message or respond to your humor

  3. Give you a chance to be silent rather than use filler words.


 

Our Toastmaster was MariaOur theme was "Jeopardy".

Julie, Kelly, Maria, Warren, Dan, and Mark used the Word of The Day

Our Speaker today was Robert. His speech is entitled “How Long To Wait”. He is working on his Persuasive Influence Pathway, Level 1, Project 2: Connect With An Audience (6-8 mins)

 

Our Evaluator was Warren (evaluating Robert)

 

Our Table Topic Master was Amy

 

Our Table Topic Speakers were:

Julia, Mark, and Nancy all shared stories relating in some way to our theme by trying to explain something to the Alien.

 

Members in Attendance were Nancy, Lynn, Mara, Warren, Barb, Robert, Kelly, Julie, Maria, Dan, and Amy

 

Guest(s) in Attendance were Joseph (Joe) Di Scala (works with Maria and Amy), Mark Perez (New - been a Toastmaster since 2016 and looking for a new club that fits his schedule better),  and Anna Vuu (3x guest)
