Public Speaking Northwest Uses Stories and Humor in Presentation Skills!

Stories and humor delight audiences everywhere. Today our speakers caught our attention with stories and filled the room with laughter.

President Barb welcomed Lynne, Ana, Barbara, Cindy, Ken, Tracy, Juliet, Jamie, Sam, Kate, Kyle, Pierce, Jean, and guest, Kathy.

Pierce, our toastmaster and leader of the meeting, introduced our timer, Kate, who skillfully timed the speeches, evaluations, and  the table topics.

Barbara received her Ice Breaker Award for having given her very first speech. Congratulations, Barbara! You broke the ice and shared wonderful things about yourself.

Lynne, our first speaker, entitled her talk, A Tragic Story. Recently, a boat crash on Puget Sound ended with one man losing his life. Lynne’s presentation taught us good boating rules for avoiding accidents.

Jean evaluated Lynne’s speech with praise for her excellent props, her important information, and call to action.

Barb, our second speaker, entitled her talk, The Flowers in My Life. We learned that the flowers were her in-laws. Barb developed her speech with humor, stories, and drama.

Ken evaluated Barb’s talk for her funny stories, use of space, and wonderful metaphors.

Cindy went to Craig’s List to dream up her Table Topics. She asked each member what awful thing they like to sell on Craig’s list. They had to make it sound inviting.

Jamie chose his very bad dog who fails to come when called.

Sam chose to get rid of his foos ball table for a dining room table.
Tracy chose to sell her sassy, messy pony for a penny.

Barb held a ceremony in which Ken. as VP of Education, passed the gavel and responsibilities to our new VP of Education, Jamie.

Barb presented Jean, our club’s founder, with our first banner. This past year we changed our name and have our new banner.

Kathy, our guest, is now a treasured member. Welcome to our club, Kathy!
