Public
Speaking Northwest
Board
Meeting Minutes
March
7, 2017
In Attendance: Julie Hutton VP of
PR, Jean Tracy VP of Education, Jung Kim VP of Membership, Nancy Carpenter
Secretary, Jim Tracy Treasurer, Lynne Dauenhauer Sargent at Arms, and Hilary Marquette
Backup Sargent at Arms.
Meeting
was called to order by Julie at 10:45 a.m. Julie is standing in for our
president, Randy. The minutes from our February 14th meeting were
approved with one modification, changing the start time to 10:45 instead of
11:45.
Public Relations: Julie is posting on
FaceBook and Linked in about PSNW and asking members to propagate these posts.
She is planning to utilize Project 10 Club PR Campaign Chair. Her helpers can
earn credit in Project 6. One suggested idea is to have an event and have a
prize drawing for the member and guest pairs.
Education: Jean really liked Julie’s slide show on the
PSNW FaceBook page and would like to see it and a few cover photo on our
website. Julie is on top of that. Jean
is planning a Table Topics focused meeting and would like to do them often. The
board concluded that these would be done at the end of each quarter with an
accompanying party. We would call it a Table Topics Extravaganza and focus on
humorous topics. We need another evaluator for next week’s contest.
Membership: Jung reported that
we had 4 guests in January, of which 2 became members. In February, we had 5
guests and 2 are potential members. It was discussed and decided to include a
photo waiver in our membership application documents.
Secretary: In the Minutes email
entice members to come to the FaceBook page and “Like” us. Do we need to
approve the minutes from each board and general membership meeting? Minutes are
needed at the bank when the treasurer’s position changes hands.
Treasurer: Jim reports that we
have 28 members and 9 have renewed. Jim will be gone from March 15th
until April 1st. Lynne will handle the onsite portion of membership
while he is gone. Jim is fighting with the bank over at $10 charge and is adamant
that he will be victorious. Bank totals were not given due to ongoing influx of
checks.
Sargent at Arms: Lynne is delighted
to have Hilary as her backup. Lynne will be gone on an extended vacation this
summer.
Motion
to adjourn was made at 11:25 a.m. by Jim and seconded by Lynne.
Respectfully
submitted by Nancy Hovan Carpenter, PSNW Secretary
