every human being, to be at home wherever I find myself.” -Maya Angelou
Our toastmaster club
treats members like a warm and caring family.
Announcements:
1. Officers and members come to a training Mele on August 8. So
Educational! 2. Next Tuesday is our officer meeting at 11:00 am.
Our Meeting Toastmaster: Nancy’s theme was summer sunshine.
Our President: Our president pro-tem was Nancy. She was our Zoom host too. So many hats!
Our Gate Team was:
Grammarian – Lynn’s chose ‘Adapt’ as our word of the day. Many members correctly used it.
Ah Counter – Robert meticulously counted our Ah’s to help us eliminate them when we talk.
Timer – Jim said almost everyone was within their time limit. One member was 2 seconds over.
General Evaluator – Jinxin gave an elegant and positive evaluation of the todays’ meeting.
Our Speaker – Kate’s title. “The More You Know,” defined ‘Mentoring.’ Kate shared how she learned from a seasoned mentor that she didn’t have to know everything. She just had to ask someone who could answer her questions. So encouraging to those of us who think we need to be experts and dislike asking for help. Our strong mentor program helps new members adapt to our club easily.
Our Evaluator - Jean found 10 excellent toastmaster skills Kate used in her talk. One was her ability to be conversational. Jean encouraged Kate to keep sharing more dialogue and inner thoughts. She gave a simple challenge -create more pauses within her talk so we have time to enjoy her message.
Our Table Topics Master – Hana used today’s theme and asked Robert, Lynn, Lucelly, and Jinxin sun shiny questions. They all smoothly spoke on the topics without any preparation.
Our Humorist - Robert told a joke about a little boy and his sprained finger.
Our Members in Attendance – Nancy, Lynn, Jim, Robert, Kate, Hana, Mara, Jinxin, Jean
Our Guests in Attendance – Caryn, our area director, inducted our new members. Jean inducted Lynn into the club with our New Member Pledge. We all promised to help her grow. Nancy is her very own mentor.
Motion to Adjourn - Jim Second - Robert
Your Secretary,
Jean
