Officer's meeting August 7, 2018

Public Speaking Northwest Officers’ Meeting august 7, 2018

Present: Jean, Julia, Uliana, Nancy, Giri, Mara, Jim.

AP – action point.

Mara suggested bringing up the APs from the last officer’s meeting to the agenda of the new officer’s meeting. Accepted.

All officers went to training, so our club will have $70 for that. Brainstormed about what to do with the money. Decided to put it in the bank for now. We’ll use it for the prizes for later. AP Ask Hilary how much was spent on prizes and ribbons in the past (year?), and how much cash we have left for planning to buy stuff in the future (year?)

Thumb drives – should we all donate our own thumb drives? AP Ask Robert if he has enough thumb-drives. Would he be ok with everyone bringing their owns?

Jean suggested that those members struggling with PW to bring their own PCs, and mentors (or whoever is capable) will help. Decided to ask people in the fall, since in the summer the attendance is low.

Julia suggested putting PW speeches on website. AP Mara will ask Robert if he still has those talks recorded for Nancy to put on website.

Discussed setting boundaries around politics, sex and religion topics that make the audience uncomfortable. Jim noted that on the other side of application there is a note about not creating problems that way, and everyone has to sign the application. AP Giri will make a talk about it. AP Mentors will let people know privately. Main sign of the trouble is an attempt to convert your audience. So keep an eye on it.

Humorous competition in our club – August 28.

Nancy suggested create YouTube channel for our club – AP Robert could download there our talks instead of thumbdrives.
