Public Speaking Northwest

                           Officers Meeting Minutes

                                 March 11, 2025

Attendees: Deanna S, Katie M, Nancy C, Lynne D, Kelly F, Theresa H.

I. Opening

·       Welcome

·       Approved February 2025 Meeting Minutes (unanimous)

II. Officer Reports   See page 3

III. Ongoing/Old Business

·       Conference Basket and Gift Card.  Katie will collect items for PSNW’s gift basket for the D2 conference.  We are encouraging members to contribute something personal, such as a book they have written.  Deanna will purchase a $50 Amazon gift card to include in the basket.  Kelly will collect items at the April in-person meeting.

·       Visit to Dustin’s bar, The Hop and Hound. Spring may be a good time to go to Dustin’s bar.  Since they don’t serve food, we can bring our own.  To be discussed further.

·       Officer candidates for June election. Nancy, Theresa, Kelly, Deanna, and Katie will continue in their current positions.

IV. New Business

·       Q&A time with guests after online meetings.  When we have guests, we will set aside some time (5-10 minutes) after the meeting to answer questions they may have.   It was suggested an officer (board member) volunteer to stay 5-10 minutes after so there is someone there to answer questions, if needed.

·       Online guest book. We currently do not have one and have decided it is not something we need to grow our membership.

V.  Announcements

Bill is in Australia for several weeks.  Nancy and Lynne will share secretary duties in his absence.

VI. Adjourn: Motion to adjourn, Nancy.  Seconded by Theresa.

March 4: Dina, Adriana

I apologize for missing two meetings in a row. I especially hated missing our in-person meeting and will avoid that in the future.

VP Public Relations: Kelly

·         Conference Basket. I know we approved a contribution of $50 for the club basket to promote our club at the conference. Katie, did I ask you if you could put it together? My apologies if I did not, I am catching up after my vacation and I have so many emails.

    • If Yes, I propose Katie contacts members via email and asks them if they have anything personal, they would like to contribute to the basket like your book, Katie or Mara’s books to show the personality and drive of our club members along with the gift card. I will make a printed card inviting the winner to join us for a meeting.
    • Is it possible to have the $50 gift card from the club ready by the April 1st meeting? I thought people could bring their contribution and Katie could put the basket together. If not, I am happy to do it. Christy, the conference chair, would like us to get the basket to her as early as possible.
  • Photoshoot. I took a group photo at the last meeting but did not have time to do the photoshoot at the last in person meeting. We had three speakers, and the meeting ran over. I will take more photos at the April in person meeting.
  • I agree, no open house is needed at this time.
  • Website: I added a line of clarification for guests to use our ‘Contact Form’ to RSVP and get the Zoom meeting link. I also added the conference video and removed the contest ad…thank you Nancy for the reminder.

Treasurer: Deanna

1.     Super 7 award - $70 received on 2/21/25.

2.    Notification of membership renewal for the period 4/1/25-9/30/25 was sent to all current members on 3/2/25. As voted on last meeting, TI renewal dues will now be paid by each member directly to TI on the website and PSNW dues will be paid by Zelle directly to PSNW. Check payments are still being accepted (for one or both payments)

3.    As of 3/10, 5 members have completed both payments and one member has paid on the TI website only. Check payments MAY have come in via mail – I will be picking up mail on Thurs 3/13.

4.    Direct payment to TI is for renewing membership only. For new members joining, initial payment will still go to Public Speaking Northwest. The preferred method is Zelle or check. Pay pal account is still active but aiming to move away from using it as much as possible. Fees are high for the small payments involved.

5.    The PSNW bank account balance is $860.91 of 3/10/25.

Secretary/Scribe: Bill

Nothing to report

Sergeant at Arms: Katie

1.  The new tripod is in the PSNW Supplies box. Some assembly is required. Perhaps someone can take a look at that at the next in-person meeting.

2.  Elsewise, all is well.

President: Lynne

1. I attended the D2 Leadership Breakfast on February 22nd.  It was enjoyable and informative.  One of the Keynote speakers talked about membership growth.  There were two suggestions that we might find beneficial to pursue.

·       Often guests have questions after a meeting, that, if answered right away, may lead to their joining the club sooner than later.  I propose that we take a few minutes after the on-line meeting to answer guests’ questions.  If officers could participate, this would provide a wealth of information and insight.

·       Do we have an online guest book??  Do we want one??

2. I spoke with Dustin about coming as a group to his bar, The Hop and Hound.  He said the best time would be a weekday, such as Wednesday or Thursday.  They serve beer and wine, but not food. Dogs are welcome.  I’d like to get your thoughts on timing to go and support Dustin and his new business!!

3. Nancy and I will share the Secretary duties while Bill is gone to Australia.
