Public
Speaking Northwest Toastmasters
Club
Officer’s Meeting
December
5, 2017
Our
president, Janell, called the meeting to order.
Also
in attendance were Nancy VP of PR, Jean VP of Ed, Julie VP of Membership,
Hilary Treasurer and Lynne Sergeant at Arms. Jim joined us toward the end of
the meeting.
1.
Lynne is purchased holiday cards and will purchase gift cards as gifts to IOsource folks who provide the room for us.
2.
The project to rework our Toastmasters banner and ribbons has
been placed on hold.
3.
The remote
owned by the club for PowerPoint presentations has been misplaced. We may need
to purchase another one. No decision was made.
4.
Our meeting
minutes need to be written in a friendlier format for PR purposes and
include announcements.
5.
Warren wants to reach out to former PSNW
members as a recruitment drive. The
issue of forgiving them dues for the first 6 months back has yet to be decided.
6.
We will have new club officers. Julia will be Sergeant at Arms and Giri will be
our new membership VP beginning in January.
7.
We
need a president for spring 2018. We asked Randy and he will
get back to us later this week.
8.
Lynne is writing up a chore list for Julia. It was discussed whether we should all write
up directions for our jobs. It was decided that a chore list/job description
may scare off potential officers.
9.
Mercedes will be having her baby soon, if she
has not given birth already. Jean proposed that we take a collection for a baby gift. It was decided that we would make the
collection this week and next and use the proceeds to purchase an Amazon gift
card for Mercedes, to be given to her in January.
10. Nancy
needs to figure out how to post
documents to our website. Our meetings were listed Mondays on the website
calendar. Nancy will rectify that (DONE).
11. As of November 30th, Public
Speaking Northwest Toastmasters has $821.51 in the bank.
12. Jim
suggested that we consider not having a
Best Speaker contest at our regular meetings. Some of the other clubs he
visited do not do it so new members are not intimidated competing against
seasoned members. We discussed it and made no decision.
