Officer Meeting Minutes
PUBLIC SPEAKING NORTHWEST
August 17, 2021
Meeting
started approximately 1:05 p.m.
Members in
Attendance: Jim, Barb, Nancy, Mara, Lynn C., Jinxin
Minutes
from the July meeting were approved.
Report from
VPE Nancy:
· One more officer needs to be trained
in order to get our DCP point.
· Most officers have signed the
officer pledge. Remaining officers are
asked to sign and send to Jinxin.
Report from
VPPR Mara:
· Mara continues to post frequently on
FaceBook
· Mara suggested that we view Nancy’s
video on our FaceBook page and said that Kelly may help with training in the
future with similar videos.
· Mara suggested a Storytelling
meeting in a park in the Fall. We
discussed whether it would be better to have the meeting during our normal
Tuesday time, or have it on a weekend.
No decision was reached.
· Mara is working with Kate (VPM) to continue
attracting new members so that we have at least 20 on June 30, 2022.
· Mara is continuing to search for new
locations for our on-site meetings
· Officers confirmed that it is OK to
look for space in churches.
Report from
VPM Kate:
· Kate is receiving many inquiries
about our club. After discussion, we
agreed that copies of all responses to inquiries should be sent to VPM, VPPR,
and President. Ordinarily, Kate will be
the first responder.
· Kate reminded us that we will lose
some members when we return to in-person-only meetings.
Report from
Treasurer Jinxin:
· Jinxin showed the Treasurer’s list
of transactions from January 1 to June 30, 2021. As of June 30, we had $1,083.59 in the bank.
· We discussed reducing club dues, given
our healthy balance. Nancy moved and Barb seconded that we leave things as they
are for now. Voting was unanimous in
favor. (There is still uncertainty about where we will meet in person and costs
associated with that.)
· Regarding new members, Jim reported
that we will no longer use the invoice option in PayPal. There followed a short discussion about using
QuickBooks but we decided not to use that program. New members should mail a
check to Jinxin or use PayPal.
· There was a mysterious payment of
$30 into our account in July. Jim and
Jinxin will continue to explore the source.
· TI says that club records should be
retained by the Secretary; however, the Treasurer in our club has been doing
it. We decided to not make any changes
at this time. As Nancy so eloquently put
it, we decided “not to poke the bear.”
Nancy moved
and Mara seconded that the meeting be adjourned.
The meeting
adjourned at 1:55 p.m.
Respectfully
submitted,
Barbara
Katz, Secretary
