Public Speaking Northwest Toastmasters Support the Words of Tom Peters!

“Join Toastmasters! Oral communication skills count.” ~ Tom Peters is the author of The Pursuit of Wow!

Our toastmasters practice their oral communication skills with presentations, table topics, and evaluation skills. Our professional manuals are filled with helpful suggestions.

Barb, our president, welcomed Jamie, Barbara, Juliet, Jerry, Kate, Yanhong, Cindy, Ken, Lynne, Sam, Mihaela, Emery, Jan Z., Jan S., Cary, Kyle, Casey, Jean, Sam, and Sam’s guest, Tom.

Jamie
Jamie, our toastmaster, gave the theme for the day, “Life Transitions.” He shared several of the transitions he and Cindy have experienced in the past few years.

Lynne
Lynne, our sergeant-at-arms, opened the meeting by reading our mission statement. She also presented the word of the day, “Threshold,” to promote the theme.

Cindy, our invocater, gave an inspirational quote from Mother Teresa.

Barbara
Our speaker, Barbara, gave her Ice-Breaker. She was born in Germany, lived in France, and went to boarding school in Britain. We learned she’s a world traveler and a biologist. She’s a fascinating person. We’re eager to learn even more about her.

Ken
Ken, Barbara’s evaluator, gave over 10 specific positives and his suggestions showed great understanding. Ken’s a master evaluator.

Kate
Kate, our table topic master, asked advice for her daughters and herself regarding which colleges to attend and how to face the empty nest facing her in a few years.

Pierce, Emery, Cindy, and Barb shared their wise thoughts.

Jean
Jean evaluated the meeting and noted the laughter, positive help, and wonderful feeling of joy throughout the meeting.

Mihaela

Mihaela, our timer, was so intrigued by each speaker that sometimes the timing lights stayed off. This prompted lots of laughter. Many of us have had the same experience as timers.
